Chapter 7, Mishna 1

Two courtyards share a wall. May the residents of both form a joint eruv to permit carrying on Shabbos, not only from their houses into the courtyards, but also between the courtyards? Sometimes such a joint eruv is permitted, sometimes prohibited and sometimes obligated. It depends on the size and position of the opening between them. This discussion has important practical and spiritual implications for neighbors, and anyone who cares about someone on the other side of a “wall.”
