The Gemara challenges one proof after another for the principle that a positive commandment overrides a negative commandment. The Ramban – Rabbi Nachmanides – ties this to the idea that loving God should (just barely) edge out fearing God. In the end, we learn it from the fact that tzitzis (ritual fringes) overrides shatnez (prohibition of wearing a garment made of wool and linen).
