The great sage Rabbi Yehoshua ben Hanania only lost three arguments in his life. But he was quick to admit that one of those losses was to a little girl.
He said, I was once walking down a road and there was a path that led through someone’s field, and I used that path. And then a little girl called out to me, “Master, is this not someone’s field and therefore forbidden to use without that person’s permission?”
“No,” I replied. “It is obviously a well-worn path,” to which she said, “It is robbers like you who have made it such.”
Duplicating copyrighted software, borrowing passwords, bootlegging movies, walking through a broken turnstile, just because everyone’s doing it doesn’t make it right.
