In Class 1, we cover the first half of Lesson 1: A Jewish Perspective on Life and Beyond. I discuss how it affects my life to think about issues surrounding death. We also look at our sages’ understanding of the soul and its relationship to the body. Finally we consider why our lives matter so much if the World of Souls is so beautiful and blissful, and we arrive at a startling realization about the relative importance of our brief time on earth compared to the eternal life of our souls.
